Tiny House Certification
At Nelson Builders, we build high quality, one-of-a kind tiny houses on trailers that are intended to be permanent homes for our clients. We do not build structures that are intended for temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, travel, or seasonal use; although our homes can be used for these purposes. As our mission to build affordable, custom, permanent housing is not in line with The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), which certifies the manufacture of Recreational Vehicles, we have chosen not to participate in their certification process.
The tiny houses we build are designed to comply with the safety standards and building codes set forth by IBR, as well as the States of Colorado and Tennessee. Nelson Builders is a fully licensed and insured General Contractor and for this reason we have chosen to certify our Tiny Houses through the National Organization of Alternative Housing (NOAH) . We take safety very seriously and our homes are built to comply fully with ANSI 119.5 as well as NFPA 1192 guidelines. However, as a builder in the Tiny House community we feel that the guidelines and mission of NOAH more accurately fit with our goals to provide custom permanent residences to our clients.
